Caramelized Figs with Yoghurt, Pistachios and Honey Flavour Pearls
Luscious fresh Figs are simply caramelized with a little sugar in a hot pan. Served with your favourite yoghurt, a smattering of Pistachios and some Honey Flavour Pearls. This speedy serving suggestion is ideal to add to a relaxed brunch menu. A little something on the table for everyone to enjoy while you are finishing off the last minute touches for the main event.
We have added Pistachios for a little texture but if nuts are not your thing then perhaps add a little Granola or Freeze Dried Blueberries. We used a full fat Vanilla Bean Yoghurt but as with the Pistachios feel free to use what works with your dietary needs and taste buds. If you can’t get your hands on fresh Figs a thick cut slice of Banana will caramelize beautifully too.
What you’ll need
- Figs – allow 1/2 to 1 per person (I could only fit a 1/2 in my pretty glasses)
- Frypan & piece grease proof paper
- Yoghurt – your selection
- Pistachios (chopped a little) or other crunchy texture
- Honey Flavour Pearls
Lets get started
Have your chosen glasses clean, cool and ready for service. Simply slice your Figs in half from top to bottom. Pop a fry pan on the stove to heat up. Tear a piece of baking paper to fit the fry pan (this will save cleaning later).
Pop some sugar on a small plate. Place your Figs, cut side down into the sugar. We just want to coat the cut side so there is something to caramelize in the pan.
Place the Figs, sugar dipped cut side down onto the baking paper in the hot fry pan. They are ready when the sugar is melted and getting a little colour. Carefully remove them from the pan. (a fork or tongs will do the trick)
Ready to serve
Spoon yoghurt into each glass. Add a caramelized Fig, a sprinkle of Pistachios and lastly top with a spoonful of Honey Flavour Pearls.
Tah dah…all ready in no time at all.
