Aaahhhh food! Food is about so many things, ……taste, texture, aroma…..the way a great meal can bring people together. Perfectly ripe cheese and an amazing glass of wine. The first bite of a beautifully presented dish. The memories a flavour can evoke… Food memories are enduring, and powerful.
My favourite childhood food memory is from a time we were on a family camping trip on the Mornington Peninsula, I was perhaps early to mid primary school age and the Mr Whippy ice cream van crashed into a tea tree right near our camp site! It must have been a pretty bad crash, the driver started handing out free ice creams to every one….I may have had one or two… Needless to say that’s what child hood dreams are made of!
I also remember another occasion, sitting on a tall barstool and eating a big bowl of field mushrooms. They were incredible, buttery, warm and rich. I have no idea how old I was or exactly where we were, but I have a clear vision of me sitting there eating and the intoxicating aroma of mushrooms…
At Peninsula Larder we think our Flavour Pearls are exciting to eat and hope they leave a lasting impression on you too. The intensity of their flavour and wonderfully fun way that they burst when you eat them will have dinner party or wedding conversation flowing. (check out the pictures from Kat & Andrius wedding)
